                                                                                         March 25, 2012

Dear Mom, Dad, and Family,
Talofa Lava! What’s going on out there?  Malo le faamalosi. Malo foi le tau. Thanks so much for everything.  Can’t thank you guys enough, but also can’t even come close to thanking our Heavenly Father for everything He has done, most importantly sending His Son to be our Savior.  I know God lives, I know He loves us.  Out of all things, His greatest is you and me.  (meaning everyone on the earth).  I know Jesus is the Christ and our eldest brother. He was chosen before the world was created and we chose Him as did all who come to the earth and gain a body.  He came and showed us the way to live to return back to Him.  Not only that but He set up His church. But let’s not forget the most important thing and that was the Atonement including His suffering in Gethsemane, crucifixion and Resurrection thus providing if possible for all of us to repent and eventually be resurrected after we die and if we are righteous and keep strong to the end then we will gain eternal life. That right there as it says in D&C 14:7 is the greatest of all the gifts of God and is only possible through our Heavenly Father and His sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.  Sometimes when life gets hard or troubles come and I think people, me included, get too focused on that and that’s when I came up with “ZOOM OUT”. Look at the Big Picture and remember this life is but a flash compared to Eternal Life.  We need when trials come, to “Zoom Out” and remember the big purpose and will of God and that is to return to Him and become like Him.  We only do that as we keep God’s commandments and take upon us Christ’s name, always remembering Him.  All commandments all the time!  I am not perfect but strive to be.
Now on to the report of the week.  We got a little busy with other things with the President, so I had to rearrange our schedule and other appointments.  When Pres. Leota heard that my comp and I had received an opportunity to follow up on the “TTIP and Follow Teachings” and also “Fellowshipping” at the Stake leadership meeting on Thursday, he wanted us prepped and ready to deliver a good message.  We met with him Tuesday along with the AP’s  to go over what we are going to talk about.  Then on Wednesday, he had us practice so we could have  a demonstration.  Also we were practicing so we could keep our message at 10 minutes as that is how much time was designated from the Pres. of the Stake.  It was good and I like how President helped us to prepare for it so we could get across what we wanted and do so in organized and prepared manner.  APs also were  a big help and when we did our part at the actual meeting, they came.  President Faalogo of the stake seemed happy afterwards and said thank you for our message and follow-up even mentioning it in his talk.  Think it went pretty well.
That Tuesday night also we went with APs and President Leota to have a meeting with another Stake presidency and go over those same teachings as the Stake president wanted it done in his stake on the first Sunday in April.  We got to watch the APs go over it again and then as they have a lot of branches in the Stakes, our zone is going to help out that stake and one that covers it in teaching. It should be fun.  Also Pres. got invited really quick to give a brief message to the mission prep class and that was cool.  Quite a few people in that stake.  He did a good job at emphasizing looking always toward the temple.
We still are teaching our Institute class and may even add another one for new people who aren’t members, like an investigators class or something. It’s going good now as I have Elder Malaga willing to help me. Elder Malaga is great and we are getting to work.  Also getting some more work in other wards we cover.  We had some good meetings with them.  Trying to push to help them accomplish their goals.
On Friday, we had a split in Lotopa to help out those Elders with contacting all their referrals.  It went pretty well and my comp and I potentially contacted 4 investigators and the others also  (meaning the other elders) contacted some potentials.  They had 13 referrals to contact!  And also on their numbers report, they just got 9 more!  That ward is rocking!
We had a great lesson with a girl named L.  Her boyfriend who is a returned missionary is great.  He helped so much and is still  good.  We had a great lesson on the restoration.  She, L was really into it, just sharing how she knows that she has been blessed and wants to know more.  Meli, the RM was right on track by sharing his testimony and inviting her to read and pray about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.  She even prayed to know if it’s true in a kneeling prayer with us at the end of the lesson.  I think she is set.  Meli is perfect for her.  We had to be careful with prayer as in her religion they say words like Daddy and Pap.  But, ya, I just explained that we use Heavenly Father and Father with—Thee, Thou and Thine for respect, and she accepted that.
Last week we had a great discussion with Sister K’s son J.  He was the only one home and usually he won’t talk, but he opened up to us, explaining why he doesn’t come back and all these problems.  We just listened and bore testimony that he could change his life if he came back.  We talked about the importance of the Sacrament and that it is essential and completes the repentance process.  He understood and accepted, saying he will come back and we had a kneeling prayer and blessed or asked Heavenly Father to bless him to know what is right.  I told him, he and his family have so much potential that’s why we came back.  All, everyone has potential and that’s why we go out and visit people.
Quick note---Iupeli came to church!  That was awesome.  Also had others come. But I have to go.  But I love you all so much!
Ou te Alofa tele atu ia Outou!   Keep strong.
Alofa atu,
Elder Cody John Walker
